C and I used our day off to 1) go to the driving school so he could take his written permit test; 2) clear more of our backyard slope, which is one huge thorny mess.
We had a lot of fun though. It was a beautiful day and such satisfying work. Here I am, heading into the blackberry abyss:

Later: We had our first ward member drop-by incident tonight. George G, whose family we absolutely adore, is now the bishop and I had a feeling he had been protecting us from well-meaning members who would want to visit and try to reactivate us. We live right in the middle of a big swath of members and it had just been too quiet for too long. I figured he was running interference for us.
Leighann P dropped by with her son and a loaded wagon of extra groceries that apparently Shanna B had given her to pass out to random ward members. I like Leighann, but it's not like we were close when we were in the same ward, so her dropping by (and knowing where we live, to begin with) was clearly prompted by a discussion in some church circle.
Having participated in those church circles in my past life, I know exactly who they talk about and the plans they make. I was not happy. I didn't expect it to make me as upset as it made me. I just want to be left alone; to not have my wishes or my privacy respected is maddening.
I texted Bishop George and asked him to please tell people to leave us alone. Seeing them show up at our house brought back feelings I thought I had dealt with a long time ago.
I had a hard time going to sleep after that.
