I LOVE THIS COLD.

My David Lee Roth screeches are sounding quite authentic.

A busy, busy day.

It was fun.  I picked up my mom at the airport, then Aunt N at Cousin M's house, and we went out to lunch and shopping for M's baby shower.  I don't think I've ever willingly shopped that much in my life.

Worthless Wednesday

At least, this one will be. I could be doing something now, but I'm passing my morning at the computer. I had a crappy night's sleep after that Burgerville portobello strips fiasco. They were good but not at 9:00 at night! I woke up at 3:30 AM wishing I could throw up! Then Brennan and Girlfriend with their nuttiness made my morning that much more interesting.

IT WILL HAPPEN.

...Me spanking this house back into shape.

LATER: Kitchen done, dining room almost done...except the computer desk. That will be its own ugliness.

Also: Hubby stopped drinking soda a week ago and has lost 4 1/2 pounds!!

Last night's party was so great...

Sariah threw the party, Alia made the cake, and Lisa and Heffalump brought gifts (and Heff came so far to attend). What a fun, fun evening. We laughed our guts out. We played "The Game of Things" - kind of like Balderdash - and Sariah gave me gag "old lady" gifts. Lisa gave me a bunch of chocolate-scented toiletries that I can't wait to try.

Those in attendance were Sariah, Alia, Lisa, Heather, Michelle, Marcie, Heather, Susan and Mallory. Heff and I sat together and cracked jokes like the Muppet old men, Statler and Waldorf. Dang, it was fun. What a good time we had. :)

I have such wonderful friends. Maybe 40 won't be so terrible after all.

Today :)

My VTs Ann and Robynne took me out for breakfast. We went to Shari's on Mill Plain & Chkalov. Ann bought the meal and also a pie for me to take home to the family - I chose sour cream lemon.

Bri and the four younger kids are out doing soccer and a birthday party.

I'm going to Sariah's tonight for the 40th birthday party my GNO friends are throwing for me.

No, Body, It's Called "Weight LOSS".

I have no excuse for being, uh, not svelte. But I'm actually being pretty nice to myself, since I know it's my own fault. My body is just responding to my abuse. The last time I had a body worth missing, I was dating this hot guy from the singles branch...

Later: What a cozy, dark, quiet, rainy afternoon. LOVING it.

Later still: I need a week off. I wonder who's planning on going to Women's Conference at BYU this spring.

Also loving this quote: "It is simple - when I see something that is not shiny - I shine it!"

Wednesday Night Shuffle

Yesterday, Harrison and Carter started going to two different Scout meetings. Here's how my flight pattern went:

Today Will Be Better

Yesterday I did manage to get some dishes and laundry done, along with making breakfast and lunches for Bri and the kids, driving everyone where they needed to go, and watching Maren and Rori while Sariah went to the temple. I also chatted with Mel and a few friends, which took up a big chunk of the day.

8:56: Harrison and Carter are still at home. Carter has somehow lost every pair of pants he owns, except the one in the dryer right now, and Harrison woke up feeling queasy and now doesn't want to go to school because he's being bullied during recesses. I'm making him go so he can tell the adults-in-charge who's bullying him. Stupid kids, I wish I could go bully them for a while.

11:35: I've been trapped in Online Land all morning again. The boys finally made it to school, though. After I drop off Roz at school and get rid of Maren, I'll shower and get busy... maybe.

P.S. I still love Ambrosia's "Biggest Part of Me." Perry Como singing "And I Love You So" made me cry and miss my childhood in Brookings with married parents...

A Happy Shiny Day in the Life of My Sink

Otherwise entitled, "FlyLady Makes Me Obsessed With Dishes"

9:45 AM:

Later I unloaded the dishwasher, loaded it again, and cleaned off more of the counter. These were taken at 1:25 PM.

I unloaded and loaded the dishwasher one more time, then washed the pots and pans, around 4:00 PM.

All this sink-shining, dish-doing and photographing inspired me to really clean the kitchen up. These were taken at 6:00ish.
Sink: Still shiny.

Harrison's Headache

Today we had something kind of scary happen at church. Harrison was complaining of a bad headache - crying, actually - but I figured he was trying to get out of being there, and also, Hubby was coaching a soccer game and I was alone with the kids and had to teach Primary. So there was nothing I could really do for him.

I went out to the car after the Sacrament was passed, to get something for Roz, and when I came back and opened the door to the building, I heard him screaming. While I was gone, he had tried to tell Bella what was happening, but his voice closed off and he couldn't speak, only gasp. Then his face twitched strangely and he felt like he couldn't move his eye or mouth. His vision became blurry. Then he said "a whole bunch of spit" came out of his mouth. When he could talk again, he started screaming. He was really scared. It freaked Bella out pretty bad too.

Matt Smith offered to keep Carter and Rosalind so they could go to Primary, and I ran home with Bella and Harrison. I called Kaiser, reached an advice nurse, and the three of us described to her what happened. She called a doctor in Portland and got back to us, saying that Harrison would be seen this week and probably have tests performed. They think it was a migraine headache.

Bella's migraines started last year. It was scary for her, too - her peripheral vision disappeared, except for a bright light shining in her eyes. It happened at school while she was taking a test and was immediately excused to go to the nurse's office... then we whipped her into the doctor's office.

I'm glad it's nothing more than migraines... poor Harrison was pretty scared. So was Bella. I don't see her cry often, but she shed some tears yesterday.

Illness

Roz woke me up around 6:20 this morning with, "I gotta throw up!" I helped her get to the bathroom on time, but she landed some on her pillow. Since then she's thrown up two more times. Today will be a big laundry day, I can tell.

8:15 - Puke #4

11:15 - Puke #5

All done. She ate some toast and drank some water, took a nap, woke up later and was pretty much fine the rest of the night. We'll see how she does for school tomorrow.

I didn't get much done, but a couple loads of dishes in the dishwasher and some laundry and the entry picked up. I worked on the first Christmas stocking this morning.

Census Test and Stuff

Today I went to the Goodwill employment office and took the census taker test. We were given 30 minutes to complete the test and I made it in under 15, so I had time to go back and find two wrong answers. I ended up with a perfect score, 28 out of 28, which the woman in charge said is "very, very rare," so that made me happy.

Back At It

Today was the first day back to school. Hubby stayed home for most of the day, so he helped get everyone ready. They were all on time. After we took Bella to school, he took Roz and me to work. We goofed off with Charles and his toys. Afterward we went to Starbucks for hot chocolate and treats.

Mom coming for my birthday

Mom is coming on January 23 for my birthday and Mandi's baby shower (the 24th). Aunt Nancy will pick her up from the airport and we'll be going over to Mandi's friend's house to decorate. Mom and I will spend my birthday shopping and going to lunch. Then she'll be going home Tuesday night.

The GNO girls and I are planning on doing something for my birthday on the 18th.

Also: Sariah is throwing a Party Lite candle party at her house on the 14th.

Pattern Ordered

Today I ordered the pattern for the perpetual calendar. Total cost was $5.98. It will arrive between January 11 and January 27.

Later I cut out the first piece of fabric for a Christmas stocking. Hope this works!

Carol and Kristy looked through my cross stitch magazines and books to find something they wanted me to stitch for Carol's piano bench. They decided on a design from the "Cattitudes" book - "Life is like a piano, etc." Carol will measure her piano bench when she gets home and tell me the measurements so I can buy the fabric.

I also gave Carol the framed "Music" piece I did back in Logan. She saw it in the magazine and liked it, and I had it in my closet. I haven't hung it on the wall for a long time because it doesn't really match my taste anymore, but it's so pretty and nicely framed, I hated to toss it. I'm glad she can have it. She and Kristy are so nice about liking my projects. :)

I Feel Cool Today

Fabric bought: After the Primary activity this morning, I went to Michael's and bought a 30x36 piece of off-white 18-count Aida. It's huge. It should make at least one stocking, front and back, and maybe more. It was $7.99 which I think is reasonable for a stocking.

Primary magnet board: The lesson for tomorrow called for a large chart to be made that will be used throughout the year, and I had no posterboard, so I took the metal "spitting prohibited" sign I was going to give to Shelly (but got bent) and sewed a little white fabric case for it, then attached the picture of Jesus (in a page protector) and wordstrips with pins. I'll also use it for posting song lyrics in a page protector on back, and since it's metal, I can buy magnets and post flannelboard figures, etc. I'm pretty proud of myself for that little idea. :)

Also, Bella and I cleaned the green bathroom, finally. ;)

Journal: New Year's Eve

Bob and Carol, Kristy and Steve are all here visiting and it's going well so far. They're staying at the Red Lion motel by the airport. They flew in yesterday, and Carter and I picked up Kristy and Steve at the motel so we could pick up their rental car in Vancouver. Then we went to lunch at Burgerville.

Later in the evening they came over and we went to Gustav's restaurant, a German place. The food was pretty good and there was a fun accordion player strolling around, playing songs. He played a few fun songs for the kids, "Beer Barrel Polka" for Carol, and "If I Were a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof. I sang along and he said, "How do you know all the words?" I told him I was in the play once, and he said, "Were you Tevye?" Ha

Carol, Kristy and Steve took Bob back to the motel, then went to the store. We took Brennan and Girlfriend to her sister's house to spend the rest of the evening, then came home. I fell asleep and Dad woke me up at 11:55 to count down to 2010. I served the sparkling cider I bought earlier (I also bought noisemakers and horns). Carter was the only kid awake - Bella came out at 12:45 and was bugged that we didn't wake her up.

I went to bed at the same time Bella woke up. Eventually Dad went to pick up Brennan. Carol, Kristy and Steve went back to the motel.
