Going Home

We woke up HOT with the sun beating down on the tent. (Next time we camp there, I'm putting the tent in the shade.) Tawnee and Kiley made a lovely breakfast. We ate, packed, hugged everyone goodbye and took off for Richland.

While preparing for this trip, I had been thinking about driving the kids through Tri-Cities to show them where my family had lived, and today ended up being the perfect day for it. I showed them our homes in Richland and Kennewick, my friends' old homes, the Seminary building, middle school and high schools, and of course the old church building that was the setting for so many of my teenage memories. The weather was perfect and Kennewick in particular seemed so peaceful and idyllic. Maybe my glasses are getting more rose-colored over the years, but growing up there really was a great experience for me. I'm grateful.

We drove back to the Couve, kind of squished and miserable in that car (BLEAH) and definitely tired and ready to be home. I took a ginormous nap. Hubby and R came home later and we all had a great evening.
