Teeming With Life

Rosalind had a hard time staying asleep last night. She woke up and wandered the house, chattering to us with her chirpy little voice, eventually settling down in the living room to watch TV and fell asleep. It sounds darling, except that it totally messed up her morning. But she did eventually get to school and have a good day.

Pam came over with Jessie the dog, to ask if we would take care of Jessie tomorrow while they go to Seattle to watch Jaime's boyfriend Daniel's swim meet. We just have to go let Jessie out the back door a few times throughout the day. Later Mike came over with a key.

I worked at the shop, making fudge with Boss Lady. We had a delightful time as usual. One day last month, she got after me for doing something wrong with every pan of fudge I made (depressing, since I had done so much on my own and tried so hard - I went home and cried), but today, she told me that one of my "mistakes" earned rave reviews from the customers and now she wants me to make it that way all the time. That was fun to hear; I had to laugh. I took some time to practice drizzling caramel and I think I have it halfway figured out now. It's harder than one might think.

Harrison spent the day on a fun field trip, going to see a high school robotics competition with his technology club. He brought home a large collection of buttons and swag.
Bella checked herself out of school early with nausea, and instead of bothering me at work, had Brennan bring her bus fare so she could go home. Later, when school was over and she felt better, she and Brennan walked to Dairy Queen for a treat.

After Carter and Rosalind came home, the three of us went to the park and enjoyed the sun. I spoke to the neighbor lady who lives next to the park. Being outside makes me think it would be fun to get our neighbors together and have a potluck.

Carter invited his friend Tyson to come and spend the night, and while his mom was here saying goodbye, Harrison asked what Thomas was up to. She told him Thomas would love it if Harrison would come over, so he left with her.

I took an enormous nap through dinnertime, and finally woke up enough to notice the time and get Hubby to call for pizza. We picked it up and brought it home, ate and watched movies the rest of the evening.  Hubby's sum-up of The Help: "I could never make a pie out of my own doodoo."

It was a good day.
