Social Distancing, Day 32

This morning I woke up with a sore throat that I wasn't excited about, so I canceled the shop that was due by 1 p.m. and went to Fred Meyer to do the two orders that were due an hour apart.

It sucked. I was late delivering BOTH orders. But then, I checked my Shi** stats, and Shi** is counting both orders as on time. And it's their world, so I'm not going to argue. (Update: I remembered later that we shoppers have "late forgiveness" right now, because of the pandemic. So I can be late all seven days of the week and no one will be the wiser, except of course the customers.)

To assuage my grief, I got Starbucks on the way home, parked by our curb, and ate. Hubby pulled up behind me in his state car, having just completed a "drive-by" check of a client's address, and told me I was under arrest for "being sexy". Well. Again. I'm not gonna argue.

Now I'm decompressing with some Sims and family time, including capturing this attempt at home orthodontics:
A few days ago, R's wires came out of her back molar brackets, top and bottom, and were poking her. Ouch! After a phone call to the orthodontist, we now have the right to mess with her braces at will. "It's fun," Hubby adds.

He and the girls went to get teriyaki for lunch and to bring Dead Sherlock home. (That's his new name now.) He's parked by the curb now, awaiting his fate.

Meanwhile, this girl celebrated her first half-birthday with a smash cake in the backyard:

I rested until around 2:10, then jumped up at the opportunity to make an extra fifteen bucks by doing a last-minute order. It was prepaid at Target and only five items, so I couldn't not.

Now we're all hanging out eating candy in our room:

A Warm Spring Day

Social Distancing, Day 31*

Just chilling. It's Wednesday. The Shi** app keeps alerting me with shops to do, though I'm off the schedule. Haven't ventured out with Uber Eats yet. Later we'll take Sherlock to the Dodge dealership and pray to the goddess of minivans for relief. Meanwhile I'm in bed, eating pastel M&Ms.

Later: Dropped the van at the dealership. B and R met me there and R drove us home. I ate some lunch, then took our gross white(ish) bedspread and went in search of a laundromat. The one closest to us is closed, but the big one on Fourth Plain is open. Other than to use the machines, customers aren't allowed to be inside. Luckily it only took about an hour.

M made some tasty banana bread.

Nick, the bonnet shop production manager, offered me some work hours, so I'm going in Friday morning and working all day in production. I fully expect to have no clue what I'm doing and to be teased by Yvonne all day, a welcome situation. She's hilarious. Also, the money is more certain than depending on tips.

Spent some time in the backyard hammock.

The view is pretty sweet, as is the quiet and the neighbors' windchimes. Very soothing.

Bad news: Sherlock is no longer living up to his nickname (No Shi* Sherlock - named after the fact that we endured owning two very terrible old minivans - one very aptly named Amy Fisher - before we bought him). The transmission AND the thermostat are dead and there's oil in the oil pan which I guess is a bad thing.

It will all be very expensive to fix. So now we're stuck with a conundrum: fix or trade in?

These two came outside and my hammock was commandeered.

So I took some pics of my lilacs.

Dinner: Waffles on the new waffle iron, scrambled eggs, fried ham.

Then Hubby, Bella, R and I watched Game Night, hilarious movie; then Survivor, the episode with the visit from loved ones. I cried so much!!

*At what point do we stop counting? Maybe this is just life now. Scary to contemplate.

Social Distancing, Day 30

Today I used Bella's car and completed six Shi** orders, five of them at Target, four of them two-fers. And Uber Eats finally finished my profile so I can deliver for them too! SWEET

We took Sherlock the minivan to a brake place; they think it's the transmission (see yesterday's post). Tomorrow I'm taking him to the Dodge dealership to see what kind of bad news they can give us instead.

I completed our 2020 census questions today too. We have nine people living in this household. Here are two of the cutest:

Social Distancing, Day 29

The socks and the mask go quite well:
I worked at the bonnet shop this morning, then came home and rested for a few hours. Hubby and I took the garbage to the dump. I completed two Shi** shops at two Fred Meyer stores.

As I was leaving the second one, I had a hard time making the car go backward. I'd shift into reverse and it was the same as if I'd shifted into neutral. Gah!! I made it out of my parking space and delivered the order and came home. Grouchily. Tomorrow we'll deal with it.

B & L made a delicious dinner, though. I ate steak and roasted veggies and spicy fries, then went to bed.

Social Distancing, Day 28: Easter

Sure, Chad, have a seat
Little Easter Lamb
For Easter dinner, we had the usual ham, funeral potatoes, deviled eggs, salad, and rolls. Dinner was as goofy as always.
As a joke/experiment, we let Baby R lick the beater with the deviled egg filling (mayonnaise, mustard and vinegar) still on it. True to form, she totally loved it, cried when it was gone, and scarfed down a deviled egg with her dinner. What an awesome kid.

Social Distancing, Day 27: Easter Eve

This morning I took an early morning shop (on Saturday, which I told myself not to do anymore) at Fred Meyer (which I told myself to NEVER DO AGAIN). Hubby came with me and did the Easter candy shopping. He's amazing at it. I only had five items, so it was okay.

Afterward, we went to Wal-Mart and replaced our long-dead hand mixer and waffle iron, along with getting an Easter thing for R that she really wanted. The kids are getting candy and gift cards in their baskets, and we're contributing a stuffed Easter bunny and a rattle to Baby R's Easter basket. Fun! The hand mixer was necessary to replace because I'm making deviled eggs for tomorrow and I'm sick of having egg yolk crumbs in my deviled egg guck. No bueno.
After shopping, we watched Baby R while B & L did their Easter shopping, then finished a project we started a while ago: downsizing our kitchen stuff.
Yikes! So much stuff. Pots. Pans. Baking stuff. Linens. Christmas dishes. Regular dishes. Serving pieces up the wazoo. We require nothing else, and we could probably stand to purge even more of it than we already have. But we weren't in the mood for that today.

Hubby took it all out to the garage and stacked it up nicely and neatly.
(Yes, these are the after pictures.)

Then there was a whole bunch of cardboard to recycle, so we took a trip out to Brush Prairie and dumped it at the transfer station recycling bin...
...and bought lunch on the way home.

Hubby took R out to practice driving and to the grocery store to buy our last minute Easter dinner purchases. R did extremely well and was quite proud.

This evening our adorable realtor, Kat, surprised us with an egging!
So cute! What a fun idea.

L boiled eggs and the kids set up an egg-coloring station, and ohhhh the creativeness that happened:
B made ^this one^ and brought it over to show me. He was laughing so hard, he was shaking. I love it.

Watching Parasite for the second time is a completely different experience, believe you me! Forgot how funny it is.
