When I miss my babies

Speaking of babies I miss: this happened today.
Our curb is clear!

Adopt One Block

...or maybe two.
For my de-littering efforts, the Universe threw me a new sweatshirt. Thanks, Universe!

I also worked at the bookstore today. Can't I work at a bookstore every day?

A good, productive day.

In an effort to have our house make more sense (i.e. moving the hutch to dining area instead of it taking up space in the living room), we rearranged some furniture this week, which means the decor was all messed up. With M and B's help, I put this stitchy arrangement together in "my" corner and LOVE the way it turned out.

I also love that our home has become a place where our creative efforts (Hubby's photography, my stitching and crocheting, the kids' painting), travel memories, and favorite collections are on display throughout the house.

The projects and producivity continue. More pics to come.

A Happy Saturday But Also Sad

R and her club soccer team played their last game (coached by Hubby) today. It was a heartbreaking loss against R's former team, coached by a big poop, score 0-1. For our family, it's the end of an era that started 20+ years ago, when M started playing soccer and Hubby was roped in to serve as that team's coach.

RIP, soccer mom status.

R will play for her college team and Hubby may take on another team this fall, but our kids are finished.

It wasn't all sad. Sandy came to watch R play, and, there were geese:

Prom Dress Shopping

My baby's senior prom. She loved the dress she has on here, but loved the dark pink one more, so we took it home.

Finished this book - it was a fun one:
Evening walk: Lilacs that weren't destroyed by the snow on Monday....
...and a tree in the park that got it pretty bad:

SNOW DAY

Our tree's fallen branch messed up our lilac bush AND knocked out our cable and Internet connection. Then my stupid chainsaw BROKE. Grrrrr!! After that I had to take an Angry Nap.

But I have accomplished a few things today, including folding and putting away laundry, feeding myself and R, managing to get through a few branches before the stupid chainsaw broke, and talking to someone at my high school to get my transcript, so I can apply for a stupid job (which isn't really stupid other than by virtue of their needing my high school transcript - really?).

Smallering

Definition: the act of reducing or making smaller

It could probably be defined as "focusing", too. I want my time and thoughts to be more focused on the things that will help me feel happy and peaceful, so I'm letting go of a few things.

Life just needs to be small for me right now: clean and well planned out and uncluttered, instead of big and messy and complicated - heaven knows there's enough of that going on already.

"It's Gonna Be A Rough Day"

It was exhausting, but not too bad. I remembered to be gentle to myself. Work was fine.

Shrink was right about my day, although it wasn't so much rough as exhausting. I worked till 6 and was on duty as soon as I came home, but I couldn't be Fun Happy Gran last night for the babies - they had to settle for Ready To Crash Gran.

We still had fun and went to the park with R (B and Goober made it as far as the park before Goober started acting like a complete moron and B had to take him home).

Getting Back Into It

March was a hard month. It just was. There were transitions and realizations and adjustments.

Tomorrow the shrink is going to ask if I've been taking pictures or blogging and I want to tell her "yes", so here we are.

Later: It was a good day at work, a great night with B and R and the babies. I ended the evening mending and ripping the trim off of an old white twin bedspread. Eventually I'll be sewing two of them together, for our bed. Hooray for productivity!
