Social Distancing, Day 6

Morning: Breakfast and walk (see pics below). It's rather chilly out.

Walking by this tree, these blossoms smelled sweet and amazing
Note to self: go back in a few days to see these trees at the old church in bloom
Came home, changed clothes, popped an allergy pill, now watching Indiana Jones movies under a blanket on the couch.

Hubby and the kids are mobilizing to make a trip to the dump. C & R have already been out running (R went to Dutch Bros) and riding their bikes. H filled his tires and went riding too. We are loving being outside so much.
Afternoon: Hanging with these two. Baby R was in serious mode.
Later: Spent some time weeding my little garden. My strawberries survived the winter and have new growth! Exciting!
This patch, we'll save for another day.
Evening: I ate cookies for dinner. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Social Distancing, Day 5

Good morning. After a weird night's sleep (I need to stop napping during the day), we slept in till after 8. I've since showered and played around with my hair:
And Hubby is very tempted to shave off his beard today. I took a "Before" shot just in case. We'll see what the morning brings.

After (which garnered a disgruntled shriek from R):
Practically naked!!!!!

Later: Enjoyed a lovely walk around the hood. It's SO NICE outside!

I liked what this neighbor did with their front door area. I need inspiration:

Spent some time sprawled out in the grass at Ellsworth Elementary. The ground feels just cool enough to temper the warmth of the sun.
But MAN my ankles are icy milky white!

Back at home: Pop Pop and Baby R just chillin:
Sweetness itself.

Spent time chatting with friendies on Marco Polo again - that app is saving my social bacon. And folded clothes. And washed windows.

R and I enjoyed errands together this afternoon. It's my payday, so we ran downtown to grab my check, only to find out that it had been mailed earlier in the day. Oh well. The drive was gorgeous. I ended up grabbing some cash from the bank, then we ran up to the gas station to try to put air in R's bike tires, a sadly fruitless and frustrating attempt. So now she and Hubby will be heading to the store for a bike pump.

Evening: Looks like R and I are trading bikes! I was worried that I was just imagining that mine was too tall for me, but Hubby was looking at it tonight and the measurements were right there on the front. R's is now too small for her, so there we go. The pump worked well; Hubby and the daughters enjoyed some bike time; and I'm not crazy. Yay! I love it when that happens!

Social Distancing, Day 4

Two early morning trips to WinCo and Wal-Mart: WinCo was interesting. I stood in line to go inside - they are normally open 24 hours a day but have been closing overnight lately - and once I was inside, it was ON like the reality show Amazing Race.

On the way down the hill to the store, I passed a WinCo semi coming up the hill, having just delivered store goods. It was a good omen. They had what we needed. The toilet paper shelves were almost instantly decimated; I grabbed a package too and was grateful to get it. Things were pretty tense.

Wal-Mart was Wal-Mart. We like their fake Claritin-esque allergy medicine.

Stay Away From Me: We're talking about working harder at social distancing. I think our family could be doing better. Hubby is on the fence and some of the kids are reluctant. Pretty typical for this household. The virus sounds absolutely miserable, and this is going to sound obvious, but I would really rather not get it.

In other news, the weather continues to be beautiful.

Social Distancing, Day 3

Worked almost 6.5 hours today - we shipped the Spring Animal bonnets. I had to spot clean about seven Baby Bunnies because the fabric came to us with tiny, almost invisible spots on it that became extremely visible once it was sewn into bonnets. GRRR. But here's to having a five day weekend!

And I'm hungry. That isn't helping. I should eat.

LATER: A Jersey Mike's sub (thanks Hubby), a nap, and tiramisu from Old Spaghetti Factory (thanks H) set the world in motion once again. Survivor was great as well.

I video-chatted with some friends again tonight. So fun.

Social Distancing, Day 2: Saint Patrick's Day

It's killing me that I didn't get to subtitle this post with Electric Boogaloo, but them's the breaks.

After eating breakfast and doing more dishes, ahem, I enjoyed a lovely hour-long walk. I have a game where I walk in a straight line (or as close to that as possible, I try to avoid sand pits and swimming pools) for 30 minutes to see how far I can get and then spend the next 30 minutes walking home.

Today I made it this far: just a few feet away from the intersection of Mill Plain & Garrison.
 Garrison Square across the street
Holy poop, I'm amazing!
Then I turned around and went home. Found some beautiful Forsythia bushes in full bloom:

People are still using the drive-through at the Starbucks close to the corner of Lieser and Mill Plain:

Random springtime flower shots to remind us that life goes on and things will improve (in case we ever forget that and fall into the abyss of despair, like we do when we have to go to WinCo):
And some shots of downed tree branches that broke during our recent windstorm, to remind us that crap happens and we will rebuild:

And this is what I found when I came home:

LATER: The cooking and baking commenced!Corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash and gravy, soda bread, and apple cake were on the menu.

Social Distancing, Day 1

(Day 1 because the weekend doesn't count. We already have that off.)

I went to work for a whole 2 hours and 11 minutes today. I don't go back in until Wednesday. But guess what, I'm not complaining because this is going to be the funnest pandemic everrrrrrr.

Since Saint Patrick's day is tomorrow, we must serve the traditional Irish feast, so I found myself at WinCo after work. It was pretty much a zoo.

Also, I didn't know this, but apparently this is the pandemic that makes people lose their socks:
People are idiots.

Though the shelves are looking quite bare, I was able to buy everything except the corned beef at WinCo. After dropping everything else home, I ran to Chuck's Produce and found a lovely corned beef. St. Patty's Day is saved.

Then it was off for a nice long walk. I walked through the park near our house down Ellsworth to the end of the road.

Highway 14, looking East
There's that river!
"I'm your private railroad crossing, a railroad crossing for money, I'll do what you want me to do"
Looking East
Then I had to walk all the way up that hill. But it feels so good to be outside right now.
Came home planning to get my holiday cooking on, took one look at the kitchen, and said NOPE. Not till people (i.e. not I) do some dishes and make some room. I cannot create in chaos.

But I can read and/or nap in it.
R came in later to tell me that she's having a very nice day. She's doing a great job keeping herself occupied.

Today I Made: Brownies with Miss R. We had Domino's for dinner, probably our last for a while.
