The Graduate and The Mannequin

Near us, a family has a mannequin stationed curbside that they dress up every day. They started doing this weeks ago as a pandemic project. They set up social media accounts for the mannequin, which is how I learned about it.

Today they dressed it up as a graduate and I couldn't resist making my pandemic-era senior pose with it for a photo:

After chilling out at home all morning, Hubby and R and I went to Mel's and hung out with Grannie, D and A. Grannie was supposed to be watching them for Mel and P, but P threw his back out while they were camping, so they had to come back home. So we saw them, and Ernie and Melody as well.

Grannie and R made cupcakes again together and the kids played Clue and the adults sat outside and pondered the pandemic and the George Floyd riots and everything else that's going on.

Shi** Dabbling

Weeks ago I figured out that really, the only way to make decent money (read: somewhere around minimum wage) doing Shi** orders is to only take orders with promo pay attached. That's how I've been operating for the last month. Otherwise, it's not worth it. Tips aren't dependable and the pay is crap.

The last two weeks, I've done one Shi** order a week, which is perfect. I don't have time or energy to do more than that. Hubby and I did a quick order this morning and decided that since it's so little money, from now on, we'll just save the Shi** wages. That makes me happy; I love saving.

On today's little jaunt, we enjoyed a lovely trip to Ridgefield, including going through Sara, the little village in which my Keithler great-grandparents (Neenaw's parents) once lived. We passed their house, in fact. It's so pretty there. I remarked to Hubby that I'd love to live in a little town again.

Afterward, we came home and played in the backyard with kitties Chad and Wednesday, who had escaped through the bathroom window. My friend Lisa has a vet friend who is willing to neuter them. Hallelujah, the cats are gonna survive!

I talked to my mom, who's on her way to Mel's to watch the boys, and is bringing me another carload of her unwanted stuff. Can't wait to see what she was able to fit into her car. Meanwhile, Hubby and I took the garbage and recycling to the dump, always a fun time.

How It Is

Mask of the day - Lockwood:
This well-loved bag of trail mix is disappearing quickly. It lives in my work locker now, where the tiny caffeine boost comes in handy on warm afternoons:
This girl had a busy day but is now bored:
These people worked all day and are tired:
We decided to take advantage of Oregon's loosening of COVID-19 avoidance standards, and EAT AT A RESTAURANT. (Gasp!!!)
There was a one-hour wait to go in, so we spent it at a nearby Old Navy store. I scored a new summer dress and a couple of T-shirts to wear with jeans or shorts. R got herself a T-shirt and black footies. The last two days have been very warm and I'm in summer clothes mode.

Dinner was good, but man they piled on the salt. Everything was so salty!

Today

Your daily finger:
An H sighting:
Today I watched movies all day (My Big Fat Greek Wedding; To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar; and Molly's Game) and played with this beautiful girl:

Also: George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis Monday. Today, while driving through Portland to pick up Hubby after work, I saw this spray painted on a barrier.

Can't even imagine the sadness and shock and horror Mr. Floyd's family and friends must be experiencing right now. So tired of hearing of white cops abusing their position.

Back to work

Had a nice day at work, mostly. There was one minor mess-up, easily fixed, that my co-workers were extremely kind to me about. I had fun listening to C converse with our crew. And, we now have a locker.
Grannie sent home a graduation gift for C including a new set of luggage and a nice check. After work, we took the check to the bank to open an account for him, but he needs a government-issued ID.

So, like getting R's permit, neutering the cats, and eating sushi at my favorite mall place, C's new account (and his drivers license) is now on the back burner.

Hubby and the girls bought groceries and I made burritos for dinner. Did some dishes, played Sims and watched some of The Greatest Showman. Went to bed, so tired.

Memorial Day 2020

It's been a fun weekend. (No, really, it has.)
Last views of Wenatchee
Hubby packed up the pickup with our ill-gotten booty - a new-to-us chicken coop, a stand-alone hammock, and various stuff Mom and Bob are done with - and we're on our way home.
Stopped in Cle Elum to use the potty, buy snacks, and strap a few bungee cords across our tarped load, then ventured onto I-90. Things are slow-going due to a previous accident. This dim bulb in front of us keeps slamming on his brakes.
It's a good thing the scenery is so beautiful or else there'd be heck to pay. HECK.

"Poor People Underwear"

Another day at Mom's with these weirdos.
Breakfast.
Mom gifted me her Grandma Keen's darning egg. I love it so much. She said I should keep it on my sewing desk. So sweet.
Going on an outing at Old Pipeline Bed Trail. People are thrilled.
Pedestrian bridge over the Wenatchee River

Upstream:
A had a harder time than the rest of us with his little short legs, so I stayed with him and made up a game where we ran through the sunny parts so we could get to the shady parts faster. I made sure to look really goofy and make a big deal out of it when I ran. D called me "the Cookie Monster of shade." I'm honored by my new title.

Along the path we saw quite a few little waterfalls and creeks.
We found the old tunnel!
"There is no illusion greater than fear"
Went back to Mom & Bob's. I worked on Mom's mask and eventually had to finish it by hand after her machine died.
Grannie and R in their matching masks:
Mom taught us a card game called Sevens, and we played quite a few times before calling it a night.
