I had a great day at work today. After everyone was dropped at school, I picked up the house and then left. Wore my black and white Vans today for the first time, they were GREAT work shoes and are cute, so they will be good go-to shoes from now on (I have all these shoes to try out).
Boss Lady called and said she would be late, a chronic malady of hers, so I opened the shop and got to work making vanilla fudge in the kettle. It was the first time in quite a while I'd made fudge, maybe two weeks.
Boss Man came in later and we had a chat about my hours and when things will start getting busier - Farmers Market starts later this month. He gave me several more compliments and discussed helping Boss Lady stay on task better, basically. It's an interesting dynamic in this family business. I get to hear about everything. They're lovely people, and their little foibles are more funny than anything.
Boss Lady finally arrived and after discussion about the above with her hubby, he decided to pray with us. I love to hear him pray. He does it differently than we do (he isn't LDS - a devout Christian). She and I made maple bacon fudge out of the vanilla - YUM - and reconstituted some chocolate I "ruined" the last time I tried to make fudge without her. I let it go too long in the kettle, but no one told me it had to be poured before too long or it would dry out and get gummy. It's rescue-able, though. Once we had some good stuff made, I poured a pan of plain chocolate fudge and a pan of "Chocolate Oodles".
Washed dishes and cleaned up, left to pick up Bella, came home with her (both of us chowing down on my Winco ham ciabatta sandwich on the way), and called the HMO about Brennan. He texted me at work that he wasn't going to class again, not feeling good. I am so glad he knows his limits and observes them rather than pushing himself and making things worse. It was about this time last year that we got that phone call from the emergency room, and he spent that week in the hospital. HMO called back and said the doctor will call Brennan Monday to gauge how he's doing.
Carter and Rosalind came home happily, but hotly (warm beautiful sunny day), with friend Tyson in tow. Later Hubby and Bella and Rozzie went to Bella's soccer practice. I practiced the clarinet, then made creamy vegetable soup and breadsticks. Picked up the soccer people, came home, left again with Hubby and Carter for futsol and orchestra. Orchestra went all right, but I was the only clarinetist again and it was unnerving. Time to get busy and practice more often. I'm still not sure about that conductor.
Picked up Hubby and Carter, went to Winco, home, ate dinner, went to bed.
