Thanks ladies!
So thankful for the two sweet friends, Christina G and Alicia W, who spent the morning helping us with the move. You ladies are angels! Can't wait to get to the new house tonight and be done with this!

Trek Adventures
Hubby and I slept on our cots underneath some cozy tree branches last night, which would have been fun and romantic except that 1) We are so tired and 2) I woke up this morning and found bird crap on my pillow. Awww, thanks bird!
Oh man. I'm unbelievably tired and my feet feel like I'm walking on bare bone. We got breakfast for the group, took everything apart and packed it in the trailer, and rode to the beach and set up. We had lunch waiting for everyone (or was it the other way around?) and I slapped people's hands if they tried to take more than one cookie. They were Costco cookies and everyone loves Costco cookies.
We rode back to the stake center. I'm so sunburned. Wishing my dad were around so he could ask if my face hurts. "Cuz it's KILLING me!"

What a day.
Day 3 of Trek, and we're not done yet. Here's a map of the route the Trekkers took over the last two days - 25+ miles over some of the most physically demanding terrain in our stake's Trek history (or so we heard from some experienced Mas and Pas).

Then everyone loaded up again and the kids walked some more, this time to a cushy campground outside of Long Beach. It was a most welcome sight.

Okay, no whining. Let's do this.
Getting good work done today. Moving next week actually seems possible now.
Trek is in three days, we'll be gone for four days, and then we move three days after that.

Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day to all of you awesome dads, especially my kids' dad, aka UltraDad. You are better and more than I ever thought to ask for. I love you always.
Hubby may be an awesome dad but he sure is being a baby about my singing every conversation to "I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home." WHATEVER you big pantywaist

We're getting down to the wire.
Boxes will now go from having cute, color coordinated labels to being labeled "Food" or "Not Food".
Later: Mom and Jeremy are here, and we went to P-town and had lunch with Hubby. Mom asked me to drive, since I'm familiar with the area. We were parked in a parking garage, and as we were leaving, I backed into some lady's Volvo, going about 1 mph. Oops. Dumb. Stupid. She was fine, we were all fine. Hopefully Mom's insurance will think it's fine, too.
At any rate, after that happened, my thoughts were, "All right, that's it. The day is over and I'm going to bed." And can you blame me? Oh no. You cannot.

Last Day of School
First some science-y wisdom from Carter:
"It's a little known fact that if you pull off a lizard's tail, it'll grow back. But if you pull it off again, the lizard'll be like, "Dude."
Today was Rosalind's last day of elementary school, which equals the end of a long era for our family. No more school supply lists including crayons and paints. Awww! Sad! I met her after school and we hugged people goodbye - I will admit that I cried when I hugged and said goodbye to certain teachers and a particular secretary who "loves her Rosalind." We have loved this school and the staff.
After school, some of the school families met at the nearby park (close to our old house) for the yearly end-of-school picnic. Here's a group shot of the kids:

With Ms.W. She was also Carter's first grade and fifth grade teacher, and we are huge fans. We're going to stalk her at her new school this coming year (shhh, don't tell her). |

Miss Judie the secretary. Oh goodness, how we love this sweet woman. |

Note the Kleenex. Lots of bawling. |

Mr. K, who was never Roz's teacher but had a fun trick of shaking a kid's hand and leaving behind a piece of candy or sticker or eraser. He was also "really funny." |

Kind of frightening
It's weird to think that there was ever a time when I wasn't obsessed with boxing up everything in the house.

Spelling Bee
Roz had a spelling bee today and she was nervous about it. This morning she told me to make silly faces at her while she was up on stage. "One time in the Primary program, Jaydn made faces at me and it helped me feel better."
Thanks, Jaydn, for that. I plan to return the favor at your missionary farewell. :)
She made it to the very end, down to herself and another kid, and she misspelled a word, which the other kid spelled correctly. It was a crushing loss but we were so proud of her. She did a wonderful job.

Free is the best price
We're done with our dining table, so I had Brennan and Bella put our table and some other furniture outside on the front lawn with "Free" signs. I'd love to say that we're just generous and philanthropic people but really, we're just too lazy to try and figure out how much our very well used furniture would be worth, place ads, show it to people who come over, and haggle over price.
At any rate, a young man pulled over his car (not easy on our street) and asked if the table was really free. "Yep," Bella and I said. He was quite happy. He loaded up the table in the back of his truck and was on his way.
Bella noted, "It's nice to think that we can be Fortune smiling down on someone."
I love thinking of it that way. May it ever be thus.

Stupid Landlady
Packing for the move *and* for Trek: Just. Why.
We've been planning on going on the Trek since October, when Hubby was called to serve on the stake Trek committee. Then in early February, we found out we're moving.
THEN WE FOUND OUT THESE TWO HUGE THINGS ARE HAPPENING WITHIN THE SAME WEEK.
Bringing me to my pondering... why. Why on earth. I'm sure there's a reason why this would be asked of us but right now, it's hard to see what that reason may be, unless it's "The Universe hates us."
