Our Seventh Anniversary

First, a wedding shot:
Awww, we look like babies ❤

Then: top right - Sam and me at Solo & Ensemble!
This anniversary weekend, Hubby and I both had obligations, so a trip to the beach was out. We decided to party in town instead. Hubby was in charge of activities and he rented a room at the Duniway in downtown Portland. Quite the view from the 19th floor.
R had a soccer game that she really wanted one of us there for, so after checking in, Hubby took off for Harmony and watched her play. She did well despite a probable concussion and just feeling cruddy, as we all have this month. I chilled at the hotel and enjoyed some quiet time.

When he came back, we walked down the block to Yard House for dinner. Dessert was especially tasty - a trio of mini peach-apple cobbler with ice cream, chocolate souffle cake with ice cream, and cheesecake brulee. I'm going back for more of that someday.

Then, stuffed, we came back to the hotel and slept. It was a great day. The fun continues tomorrow!

Took the day off

Because it's almost our anniversary and we felt like it.

Hubby is sick again with a cold. Boooo! He slept while I took C & R to school and I brought him home breakfast from Starbucks. Later we enjoyed lunch at Shari's together.

Tonight, R had a hankering for some frozen yogurt, so we went downtown to Yogurt Time. It was very tasty and fun was had.

Chamber Music Night

But first: feeling this red lipstick today. Power!!
Tonight Roz and her bandmates played solo and ensemble pieces for the parents. I accompanied Sam the oboist on her Mozart sonatina, and somehow got pictures of everyone but her.

Hubby and Bella came to watch.
Tyson and Johnny, percussionists who C started playing with in middle school. I took this for Tyson's mom, my friend Chrisie:
R and her group. They played a song that had the same tune as the old LDS hymn, Guide Us O Thou Great Jehovah. They sounded well.
Afterward, we went to our favorite DQ and had ice cream, our after-band event tradition. Good times.

Got My Eyebrows Did

Looking pretty tired. Still battling the illness, but feeling a bit better every day.

I've been getting waxed at the same place for a few years, but I think I'm done going there. Every time I get outside afterward, I have to finish the job myself with tweezers. I think it's time to look into laser hair removal and I'm definitely getting a home waxing kit.

Blue Skies Smiling At Me

Can't wait to be healthy again. Soon, I hope.

Guess what?

Yep. Still sick.

I'm also sick of being in bed, so I'm spending five minutes up doing light decluttering and ten minutes lying down. Chad is helping me put away my raincoat:
Now they're both helping me fold clothes:
Here's this sweet nugget, wearing her lamby bonnet and doing her kissy face:
In other news: I had Hubby drive through River Maiden and bring me a brownie. I gave him half (this virus kills the appetite) and now River Maiden has a new fan. I'm glad, because they also have amazing biscuits and scones and mochas.

so sick

After sounding like a pneumonia patient at work all week (I'm sure my coworkers loved hearing me hack, especially with the threat of coronavirus floating around), I stayed home from work today. I've been resting in bed and keeping busy by playing Gardenscapes, online window shopping, social media-ing and texting.

For breakfast I had a number of large spoonfuls of Ben & Jerry's Phish Food, two pieces of wheat toast that Bella insisted on making, and Mucinex. I've been mostly successful at applying WinCo's cheap knockoff of Vicks Vaporub to my face while avoiding my eyes - one fiery experience later, my aim has improved.

Here's hoping another weekend spent in bed will finally knock this thing.

Venturing Out

For Presidents Day, we went out and spent some presidential flashcards* at the Columbia and Nike employee stores.

Me: New raincoat! Yay! And I wasn't expecting to buy a pink one, but it ended up being a very pretty shade. Now I just have to wait for the rain.

I stayed in the car while Hubby and R went inside Nike. I'm still feeling pretty nasty.

Afterward, we went to McD's for snacks and drove home. Beautiful weather today.

*AKA cash. But we actually used our debit cards like lame-os.

The Very Chill Sunday

We're still trying to recover from our various maladies. It sounds like a tuberculosis ward over here.

Valentine's Day

This morning: We put the kids' treats on the mantle and wished them a happy day and told them we loved them. Everyone received a giant Hershey's kiss, a small bag of candy and a gift card for Dairy Queen (a family favorite). Except Baby R - she has a new teething ring.

Hubby bought and put all of the treats together last night. He bought us a Whitman's Sampler. Such a sweet man.

I spent a short time at work today, then headed to IKEA (in my never-ending attempts to organize our stuff), then to the library for books, then gas, then picked up R at school - C had plans. They had a fun day giving V Day treats to their friends.

This evening: There was food to be consumed and fun to be had. First, sandwiches at Big Town Hero.
The robot server (and why not):
Then: we saw Parasite, at the Kiggins theater - our first time there, I'm embarrassed to say.
Parasite (Korean with subtitles, just won the Academy award for Best Picture, among other categories) was amazing. HOE LEE COW. We quite enjoyed it.

C got his teeth did

Such a handsome young man.

My @$&*#!! Buttercup

We're finally starting to ship these pre-ordered Buttercup poms. They're cute but HOLY CRAP it's annoying to have the song My Little Buttercup (from the movie Three Amigos) stuck in my head all day long.

"My little Buttercup has the sweetest smile..."

Meanwhile: Mom sent us a collapsible fabric house for Chad and Wednesday. She says they're her guinea pigs, to see if she needs to buy one for her future cat. Here they are:

Poor Baby R

Her mama had a bad scare this morning when Baby R woke up coughing and gasping for breath. Bella took them to the emergency room, where Baby was taken in immediately and given a nebulizer treatment. She has RSV and was also diagnosed with asthma.

Through it all, she was a happy smiley girl, as usual. Apparently she charmed all the nurses. L was given an inhaler to treat her with.

These old sickos

Hubby: I feel like if we had the right essential oils, we'd be fine.

Both of us: **raucous laughter**
Feed us.*

Today I Made: I worked on music for the solo & ensemble thing later this month. Also, I flipped through my new Classic Rock songbook and murdered a few favorites.

*Bella made tortellini for dinner. Bless her.

siiiiick

It's so bad. You know it's bad when you have to carry around a box of tissues everywhere you go, even into the hallowed halls of Panera.

Slow Carb Diet, I love you, but nothing can make me feel better like chicken noodle soup.
C's eyebrow took a knock from some guy's head during yesterday's game. Pretty colors!
GAME TIME
Later: The game is tied 2-2 and going into overtime. Exciting!

OUTCOME: oh, only winning the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
We're so happy and proud.

Trip To Seattle

And we're all in fiiiiiine health this morning.*

These people don't feel great
This person feels okay so far but if she catches her family's crud, she will be cheesed. There will be heck to pay. HECK I say
And North of Centralia, here is some very welcome blue sky and sunshine
Before we left, we drove through McD's for breakfast, and have since cracked open the Cheat Day eats. I'm already sick of chocolate.

Meanwhile DJ Gary spun us some sick beats° and the travel went smoothly. We arrived at the hotel just after 11:00.

Our suite:
Hey look, there's a Twilight on! That never happens!*
Chilling with my sick babe
Our Cheat Day stash. There's no way we're going to get through all of this today. R is not only sick with a cold, she's also nauseated and living on soda crackers, so she can't help. She's not happy.
Shots from the game:

1) My boy
2) My girl (and her leg)
3) The field
4) The pressure! It's INTENSE
Halftime score: 0-0

It's cold out here. I find I stay warmer when I stand or walk. I never thought I'd be thankful for working in a heatless warehouse in winter, but it has acclimated me nicely.

After a tie and thirty minutes' overtime, we won 2-1! It was beautiful to watch the boys handle the thugs from Federal Way and the massively incompetent and probably corrupt center ref, who I'm almost positive voted for Trump.

Back at the hotel room. Guess what's still on:
5:00 PM: Sadness. It showed up. I'm sneezing and stuffed up and my throat is scratchy. Booooooo!!
6:30: Downstairs in the lobby, waiting for dinner to arrive. Feeling CRAPPY.
Ate this food (I love Cheat Day). Went to bed feeling so gross.

*a lie

°I have no idea if this is a thing people say anymore, since hardly anyone spins anything anymore
